For those of you who joined the site before WLC, the Washington Leadership Conference is an FFA members only conference where prospective leaders take a week and learn about service leadership and how they can make a difference in their communities. The members, all of high school age, come from around the country to Washington D.C. to participate in this conference and learn not only from the group leaders there but also from one another.
Personally, the WLC experience changed my life. The first two days disappointed me greatly, as I was expecting a more somber tone with motivational speakers from various political positions. What I ended up with those first two days was something reminiscent of Vacation Bible School. However, Session 7 rolled around and the conference shocked me again. We were instructed to write letters to ourselves that would be sent to us later in the year. We were given our supplies and began writing after being told to turn them in to "the staff member we were most comfortable with". For reasons I cannot explain, that night was very emotional for all 198 of us. We came together after that, becoming family. Note, I didn't say like family. The people who I met at WLC are a part of my family now, especially the 23 other students in my group and my group leader Whitney. Those in my group, the Representatives, are people whom I will never forget, and I hope to see all of them again.

That's because it is an FFA only trip, very cost-prohibitive. It can be rediculously expensive if you aren't careful.
